Therapy for Individuals and Couples

I bring humor, authenticity, caring, curiosity, and cultural humility into the therapy room.  These  qualities form the basis of my therapeutic approach.  I specialize in issues surrounding anxiety, depression, addictions, sexuality, trauma, and life transitions, including grief and loss.

Individuals

At times, it can be difficult to see ourselves in the best light. Blocks—or even mountains—appear in our way and we can’t figure out how they got there, or how to move around them. Sometimes we need a guide to help us navigate this path. In therapy, we will explore what is working in your life and what you would like to change.

I focus on your strengths and utilize them to forge new ground. At the same time, I believe that we need to make room for the feelings that are not so easy. Rather than push them away, I invite you to bring them into the room, allowing them the space and time they need to move through you.

I use an integrated approach--talk, expressive arts, mindfulness practices, and somatic work.—which allows for flexibility, creativity, and attunement to the moment. Most importantly, I see therapy as a partnership. Together we will create the right cadence, spaciousness, and safety that best suit your needs

Couples

Many couples struggle with issues surrounding communication, connection to one another, connection to self, competing needs—as well as a myriad of other issues. At times we can feel alone and/or isolated in our relationship and question “How did we get here?” Other times, life transitions occur—birth of a child, death of someone close, moving, retirement—and we need support in figuring out how to move through the changes.

I believe in identifying and focusing on the strengths of your relationship while also exploring what gets in the way of better communication and deeper intimacy. During therapy sessions, I help couples slow down their interactions with one another so there is more space to identify and move beyond habitual patterns that get in the way of the relationship you want to have.
